The faux finishing is a decorative stucco which imitates marble. It is generally used in decoration when the use of slabs of marble is too expensive. The results can be so realistic as not to be distinguished from natural marble. The technique was used in many artistic movements, including Baroque , Palladian , Neoclassical , Art Nouveau and Art Deco .
